"Acclaimed creator Kaoru Mori's tale of life on the nineteenth-century Silk Road continues as Mr. Smith extends his journey. This time, he is welcomed into the home of a wealthy tradesman and his wife, Anis. Custom dictates that, as a woman, Anis is not permitted to meet their visitor face-to-face, but even so, she counts herself blessed to live in such a beautiful estate and be married to a man who devotes himself solely to her. Still, one cannot help but long for the companionship of another person when one's closest friend is a reluctant Persian cat. In her loneliness, Anis visits the public bath house and discovers a place where she feels immediately free among her fellow sisters."

I was pleasantly surprised by the newly introduced story arc in this volume of the "A Bride's Story" Series. It did depict nudity, but in a way that made you relate with the females in this particular story. It was also wonderful to see the concept of avowed sisters (from a Middle Eastern standpoint), as I have only seen it before in mentions of 'Laotong' in East Asian culture. It's a beautiful thing to see the way woman found a way to support each other in times of need. Even if what we see is fiction, it's still wonderful to think - oh, this might have happened.

I like this story. It started out innocently enough, that is volumes 1-6 are fairly rated G aside from the usual splattering of violence that many people find acceptable. However, volume 7 is an ode to the female form, in all its lack of underclothing. The story features many undressed women, sensually depicted. Which is considered OK in Japan where families often bathe together. However, for American tastes, it might be just a little too much detailed and lovingly depicted breasts and thighs.
