Very much enjoyed this series. Great narrative, acting that makes you believe the actors are their characters, plus impressive landscapes and convincing sets. It's also well worth watching the documentary footage about the making of the sets, costumes, etc. Thoroughly recommended.

Very well-developed characters, including valiant and strong women. The care taken with costumes and make-up bring the period to life, and also the story line follows the lives of Uhtred and Alfred. I must read the books now!

Loved it even though I expected not to. Hope there is a season 2 to watch.

Excellent historical series; action packed, great set and costuming. English King Alfred (the Great) faces Viking invaders. Fans of the Viking series and Games of Thrones should really enjoy this series based on the novels by Bernard Cornwell.

Very well done. Some parts are a bit stretched.

Wish I could give it ten stars, it has all the excitement and charm of the novels -- well done.
