This is just plain bad. The only bright spot is Steve McQueen's subordinate role, altho one can see the early star potential.
EXCELLENT WAR DRAMA !!
fabulous plot, great sub lines and old Blue eyes at the helm ....
ahhh .. HOLLYWOOD !
It is a 1951 war film directed by Robert Pirosh.
Several veterans of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team play in the movie.
"Go for broke" is a phrase from Hawaiian Pidgin meaning "to wager everything".
It was the motto of a World War II Japanese-American military unit, the 442nd Infantry Regiment.
Fighting in the European theater during World War II, this regiment became the most heavily decorated unit for its size and length of service in the history of the United States Army.
Although it is supposed to dramatize the real-life story of this regiment, the hardships of field life on the line and the reality of high casualty rates are NOT accurately depicted, and there are NOT many heroic episodes in the film.
The presence of many famous actors help this movie the rating of 1.5. Enough said!
