Clay is a former frat boy who gives up his reckless carousing and becomes notorious for his outdated theories on love and romance, as well as for his devout beliefs. Amber is a free-spirited young woman with a restless soul who is surprisingly drawn to Clay's strong faith and noble ideas. Together, they attempt an "old-fashioned" courtship in contemporary America.

Bro douche bag turned Christian douche bag tests woman abused by her previous boyfriend, to see if she lives up to his standards. There's no issue as to whether he lives up to her standards. He's marginally better than his friend who is a radio shock jock, and another friend who catcalls her. She should be grateful he sets her straight about nail polish colours she can wear, without breaking her arm -- yet. Yes, this is no ordinary story. Inspirational? I hope to heaven not. Elizabeth Roberts, far and away the best actor in the cast, does what she can with her character -- you know she's wacky; she has a dreamcatcher and a cat! But in some eye-rolling scenes, you can almost hear her thinking "why am I here?"

This film caught me by surprise. I've been making attempts to watch more Christian-oriented movies, so I decided to give this one a chance after seeing a trailer for it on another PureFlix DVD. I was astounded at how unusual this film was in terms of its story and its message. I've never seen any film touch on the delicate topics of chivalry and respect for one another in a relationship quite the way this one did. The amount of love and respect Clay shows Amber throughout their courtship is truly astounding. Granted, some of Clay's behaviors and ideas border on bizarre, but it's all symptomatic of the debauchery he was a part of in college. He's a changed man, though he hasn't quite learned that he can live by his Christian values and yet not be so odd. I enjoyed the portrayal of both of the main characters and I found their love story not only unique, but entirely enveloping.

Very sweet movie about really getting to know someone in a dating relationship and standing strong to your values, no matter what others think. My husband and I enjoyed it very much.

The movie had good intentions but they did not emerge well in the execution of the film. The theories of romantic relationships of main male character, extreme chastity prior to marriage, were excessive to the point of being rather strange. The movie did succeed in creating a thoughtful critique of interpersonal respect in modern relationships and marriage, though. Maybe it's a good movie for inciting discussion and debate?

This felt like it was 5 hours long it was so bad. Most of the film is long silences, bad music, and watching a 40 year old guy dressed like a teenager feel sorry for himself. Clay Walsh spent his college years getting underage girls drunk and filming them naked ala "Girls Gone Wild". After he sees the destruction he's caused he decides to change his attitude toward women and refuses to be alone in a room with a woman other than his wife. (He's unmarried.) That does not give him a license to be rude and mean to all women. Yet that's what he is. He has two friends. One is a womanizer who runs a radio show where he gives the lurid details of his female sexual conquests. The other is living with a woman and their children whom he finally decides to marry. Quite the threesome. I wanted to like this film because it's nice to see young people wait until marriage, but these were not two young people. These were two old people who'd been with 20+ partners each and suddenly decided they'd wait for marriage. Neither was a great actor and it fell flat on all accounts. Bad script, bad acting, bad plotting, and lots of really bad music. 30 mins of the movie is devoted to the horrible radio show that his friend runs which is so offensive to women I'm not sure why they included any of it, much less 30 minutes. A man who makes a woman stand outside in the cold so he can fix the stove is not chivalrous or old-fashioned. He's a jerk. And the girl (Amber) who keeps breaking appliances so she can get to see him is stupid.

Nice story and characters, I enjoyed watching that movie, but the making is cheap and not as professional as the standard Hollywood movies.

This is a great reminder of a truly connected relationship and how you need to respect and protect yourself and your partner from things you may not be ready for or able to committ to. I really enjoyed this movie.
