Basically this is one of the most beloved Shonen manga series out there. But for good reason, not only is the story incredibly interesting with the concept of the main character trying to maintain 2 different lifestyles. The characters themselves are loveable and some you will hate but grow to love. The art style is a little less standard for Shonen but it suits the series. The coloring of certain details are amazing, such as Kaneki's left eye, which brings out the demonic look for him. Even though it's mostly in black and white, it's pretty easy to envision what most of the colors are and most of the characters have properly colored hair. Finally, since this is the manga version, none of the major scenes are censored. So you can enjoy all the Tokyo Ghoul glory! But this is only the first handful of chapters, which means some of the more amazing fights aren't in this volume, so you better start reading all of them. I give this volume a 5/5 rating.

A normal college student, Ken Kaneki, goes on a date with a fellow book-lover Riza. Soon he finds out that she is a ghoul (a species that can only eat humans) and flees for his life, but they are both suddenly struck with steel beams from above. Killing Riza and with Ken barely surviving, a doctor does an organ implant, resulting in Ken becoming a ghoul and now having to cope with his new double life. I liked to manga mostly because of how much I see myself in the main character, also how much vulnerability he shows which is rare to see nowadays

The story takes place in a different reality, where ghouls and humans live together. "Ghouls" are monsters with human forms who could only survive by eating human flesh. One day a college student named Ken Kaneki, who's also the main character, dates a girl named Rize. Then later she reveals that she's a ghoul and wants to eat Kaneki's flesh. Kaneki later wakes up in a hospital and sees himself become half ghoul and half human. The story becomes very fascinating on that point where Kaneki doesn't know how to control himself from hunting people. Kaneki changes to many personalities throughout the story from a weak person to a strong person. Some characters are well developed and some are not. The animation background is fine, while the character designs are very good. Kaneki changes to so many personalities as the series progresses. This anime is very tragic and emotional and it also deals with other problems including friendships and ghoul investigators which have a big impact on the series. The songs, soundtracks and themes are my favourite part of the anime. It has so many good songs which gives me chills every time I listen to it. Overall this anime is left uncompleted, so I highly recommend to read the manga so that you will understand everything. Tokyo Ghoul always remains as one of my favourite anime after all. 8/10.

This highly entertaining graphic novel features a very well-crafted story complete with intriguing characters. The art is both clean and visually appealing. If you enjoyed Attack on Titan, you'll likely enjoy these action-packed books.

YES!!! I sent a request for this!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't think they'd buy it....I also asked for "3 gatsu no lion", but there wasn't an English version yet. Aaaaaanyway this book is about college student, Kaneki, (seriously no one refers to him as Ken when you google it or talk online so just call him Kaneki) who looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooves books and he meets this purple haired girl. He asks her out. Promptly after a date one night she tries to nibble him. Literally.....She tries to eat him.....So as Kaneki tries to run away, (before this shiz happens Kaneki is almost as weak as Shinji) some stuff falls from a building that is being constructed and kills his pretty date and hurts him. The doctor then transplants the nom-nom lady's stomach into Kaneki because the beam broke his tummy....(ish....) Kaneki, now a ghoul, learns about social inequality and how to make good coffee. Join Kaneki in his pursuit to happiness as your ships never EVER work. <3 Great series.

Tokyo Ghoul will leave you with some emotional scars. There is major character death and pain. Now that you have been warned I highly recommend it. the characters are amazingly well-written, the plot is intricate and I still catch things I missed the first two times around when I reread it. The art is a little iffy to begin with however it's the artist's debut work and he improves so much over the series' run time it's kinda fun to watch. It's interesting to see how all the characters react to the events that happen and even more why. This series does have it's flaws: the rough art, the roller coaster of feels it puts us through but it all of it makes sense with the world that Ishida has created. Also it's much better than the anime version. I can't even begin to explain without giving spoilers but damn.
