Egypt. Land of the Pharaohs... and of the Bible. This program accompanies journalist Bruce Feiler on a historical, geographical, and spiritual reconstruction of Genesis and Exodus narratives. Trekking by camel, boat, and horseback, Feiler discovers how the ancient Egyptian culture and religion influenced the Israelites during their centuries-long stay in Egypt, especially in the importance placed on dreams and storytelling. Viewers experience Joseph's path to Egypt after being sold into bondage by his brothers, his interpretation of the Pharaoh's nightmares, his rise from slave to the heights of power, and his reunion with his brothers and his father, Jacob. Feiler also traces the story of one of the Bible's greatest figures, Moses, and his eventual confrontation with Pharaoh to "let my people go."
