I couldn't stay with this long enough to see Icelandic scenery.

Forget stupid Dirty Grandpas.
These charming old geezers can make an Icelandic geyser erupt!

This is one of those times where I'm not sure I understand the meaning of the word comedy... Lots of reviewers liked it from the film festival circuit, but I am not a film festival reviewer.
It could have been called "Old Farts Trying To Recapture Their Lost Youth Travel to Iceland" and with that long title I would have known it was not going to be something to my liking.

My draw to Land Ho! was the promise of Icelandic landscapes. I went in with trepidation from the negative reviews about the Mitch character. I enjoyed him! Is he a strong personality? Yes. Does he have his over the top moments? Definitely. Is he interesting. YES! I like his sense of adventure and his honesty. This is a great road trip film.

I tried to like it. I gave it 20 minutes. But the main character dominated the dialogue in this movie and I just couldn't bear to hear him anymore. Maybe some stronger supporting actors could have helped this flick. Unless you like Icelandic scenery, I'd pass on this one.

Land Ho has some picturesque scenes resulting from the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland. Unfortunately the script is a barren wasteland sorely lacking in character development. We are supposed to embrace Mitch as a charming, quirky old geezer but he comes across as an annoying blowhard. Poor Colin gets sucked into taking a vacation with a human Foghorn Leghorn. Many cringe-worthy moments take away from what could have been a good movie. Two stars is all it deserves.

I want to go on a road trip with Mitch!
