"How did my life get so broken? It's a question Lacey St. James asks herself every day. Stuck raising her little brother in a trailer park while she works a dead end job at a grocery store, she has a stalker ex-boyfriend, a bad reputation, and no way out. And then she meets Everett, who changes her entire existence. Everett is an outsider who's housesitting his family's mansion off the coast, and for reasons Lacey can't understand, he's completely captivated by her. He seems determined to show her that life can offer more than she'd ever hoped for, if only she believes in herself. She desperately yearns to trust him, but what happens when she finds out that everything he's told her is a lie?"--Provided by publisher.

I chose the book because I liked the title. Very quickly I realized that there were no redeeming qualities from there on, and the title didn't seem to have a lot (or anything) to do with the story. Lacey is her own worst enemy. She makes multiple bad choices although she is "trying to better herself" and pull out of her abusive home life. Her relationship with Macon is so bad one would wonder why she would keep going back. Everett comes to her rescue, but the moment she can't find him, in spite of the unconditional friendship he's offered to her, she calls Macon. I continued to read through all of the disasters because I kept thinking the choices would be better. I thought maybe there would be a better explanation of what happened to her biological father, but they just painted him as a bad guy, which he could have been, but everything about him was vague. Her grandmother was totally awful, her Mom facing her own demons evidentally made enough bad choices to get her family in such a bad situation. In the end Lacey took too long to reach out to a more sane part of her family. Things could have gotten a lot worse for her little brother, but she was too wrapped up in her own drinking, etc. to do anything or pay attention to what was going on. All in all, the story didn't have any satisfaction at the end.

THIS IS NOT A EROTIC FICTION. THIS IS A TEEN READ. Teenage drinking, fake I.D's Should I go on? A teen girl who decided to make changes in her life, but she is still partying, drinking, and still seeing a abusive boyfriend...and lets not forget she is the biggest secret keeper of all the characters. why would she lie to her friend Clare about what happen to her? because everything has to be a secret for her. If Lacey was my friend I would want her to tell me. Maybe Clare could take precaution from that one incident, and make sure that it never happen to her again....but Lacey didn't think she should tell her. Oh and I can't forget the phone call to the ex-boyfriend.... I was chanting dumb, dumb, dumb. My favorite Characters was sweet little Davy. I also like Everett, for being helpful, kind, sweet, and supportive to that Lacey ugh! . With all that said I would have skip reading this story if I know it was this STUPID.

Pegged as erotic fiction, this book is a departure from this genre. Instead, this story deals with two people who are broken emotionally and they find solace in one another. Riveting and intriguing, it is a solid read.
