A little bit over-the-top at times but still good movie!

Entertaining. Stiller and the beautiful Wiig are well cast, and do a great job. The scenes in Iceland (which stands in for both Greenland and the Himalayas, as well) are beautiful. Do watch how they did the skateboarding scene, with Stiller's double, in the bonus features.

This movie will make you want to drop everything and travel all over the world lol!

I truly loved the soundtrack. The songs fit perfectly with the scenes throughout. Although I liked Ben Stiller in a serious role, I kept finding it weird to be taking him seriously! Slightly distracting. Even still, a beautiful story with many beautiful scenes - definitely made me want to travel. Overall, slightly boring at times so that's why it gets 4 stars, but truly was a movie that everyone can appreciate! (Rated PG so even kids can enjoy this one!)

The original short story is a classic tale of a hen-pecked husband with an over-active imagination. The original film portrayed a hopeless dreamer accidentally thrust into action. In this remake, Walter is capable but quiet and unremarkable until forced outside his comfort zone. All three are recommended but vary in message and I was hoping this would be closer to its predecessor.

I loved the original, and I enjoyed this! Loved the soundtrack. Surprisingly I liked Ben Stiller in this, a more serious role. It's definitely a different take on the story, but still has the gist of it: man unsatisfied with own life, has fantasies of living more adventurously. If you're an absolute stickler to originals, this isn't for you. But if you have an open mind and can enjoy a modernized adaption, give this a try.

I like The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Ben Stiller a lot. Even if you're not typically a fan of his movies, give this one a shot. It is classified as a comedy, but it's more of a drama with some humorous moments--mainly the daydream sequences. It strays far from the very brief story on which it is based; in doing so, I think it does a good job of showing how Walter can change and create a life that is even better than his daydreams. The cast, visuals and tie-in with LIFE Magazine are excellent. Interestingly, James Thurber, the author of the short story, shared in a letter to LIFE Magazine his dissatisfaction with the script of the 1947 movie of the same name. I have not yet seen the 1947 movie. The 2013 film is rated PG for some crude comments, language and action violence.

This was a really stupid movie that had nothing to do with James Thurber or the original story. I'm sorry I wasted my time watching it.

Cheryl: I wanted to tell you, that song "Major Tom" and that beard guy... he doesn't know what he's talking about. That song is about courage and going into the unknown. It's a cool song.
Walter: I just live by the ABCs: Adventurous, Brave, Creative.
Sean: Beautiful things don't ask for attention.
