Mosquita and Mari are two Hispanic-American high school girls struggling to survive in their last year (?) of high school and what they are going to do afterwards (college- no college). This is the first full length feature film by director Aurora Guerrero and may be the first full length feature by the majority of the actors. It is just a film of hard-working Hispanic-American parents trying to give their kids a better life than they had. If it produces tears of joy or sadness, then it has done its job.

What a delightful coming-of-age tale this is. The main characters are engaging, the situations are entirely believable. The pace is laid back, but that's ok. I was in no hurry to see anyone grow up. On the down side, I think the support roles were a bit "flat." The clueless parents, the disconnected classmates . . . those characters could have used some TLC, but it didn't kill the story.
