Theodora is a perfectly normal duck. She may swim with a teacup balanced on her head and stay north when the rest of the ducks fly south for the winter, but there's nothing so odd about that. Chad, on the other hand, is one strange bird. Theodora quite likes him, but she can't overlook his odd habits. It's a good thing Chad has a normal friend like Theodora to set a good example for him. But who exactly is the odd duck here? Theodora may not like the answer.

The book's greatest strength is Theodora's and Chad's changing relationship. They start out standoffish, but the two soon get to know each other and realize that their similarities outweigh their differences.

Theodora has never been quite like the other ducks: she swims with a teacup balanced on her head, likes trying strange new foods, and prefers riding her bike over flying. But Theodora isn't nearly as weird as her new neighbour Chad, with his loud art projects, freaky feathers, and sloppy swimming. Between the two of them, Chad is definitely the odd duck…right? Featuring a whimsical pastel palette and a graphic novel/picture book hybrid design just as fun and eccentric as the characters, this "clever celebration of individuality" (Kirkus Reviews) is a great pick for older readers and oddballs of all kinds.
