The writer has been set a tricky task in doing a series that respects X-continuity (nice shout out to Kitty Pryde's infamous roller-disco costume) and is all-ages appropriate and easy to follow. Given these constraints the stories are surprisingly fresh and engaging, and as usual Wolvie is at his most compelling when "humanized" by a young protégée. Nifty art, too. A collection from a series set in the past. The collected issues of the main series tend to focus on the mentor relationship between Wolverine and Kitty Pryde. It does seem to fit into continuity. Van Lente's a good writer at Marvel, though he is hampered somewhat by the fact that he's writing one of the most annoying comic book characters on the planet. The extra story is a Power Pack team up that suffers badly from bad art, and though set more in the current era, seems to portray the Power Pack family still as children for some inexplicable reason.
