The story of Esther has always been one of my favorite Bible stories, so I was very interested to read this modern tale loosely based on that narrative. It did not disappoint! As Addy deals with her conflicting emotions over being on the show and sharing her faith, we see her gaining encouragement and wisdom from her missionary mother's journals. There are some very touching moments as Addy perceives God's hand in her life and the big and small ways that He provides for her. Highly recommended!

I was reading the back cover of this book and thought to myself . . . Wow this sounds like the selection all over again. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable read, although nothing compared to the selection.

The entire concept of this book intrigued me. But I really was interested in reading it after reading Krista's other book, Starring Me, which is a sequel to this about Addy's friend Kara. I'll admit that I enjoyed that one more, but I was interested in this author so I decided to read this. It DEFINITELY wasn't a waste of time. Although not as good as Starring Me, it was still a very good read. I can relate to Addy because she's shy and prefers to remain in the background, and also struggles with sharing her faith, which I have had trouble with and still do as a Christian. Jonathan sounds so dreamy, I'd want to date him too! XD And I love Kara. She's got spunk and is really nice. The book drew me in from the beginning. I loved seeing how everything worked together with the original story of Esther. A modern re-telling is just cool. It's true, McGee really could have done more with this but, unless I'm mistaken, I believe this was her first published novel. She did well for the first, and if Starring Me is any evidence at all, she's improved her skills. I was a bit annoyed that Addy thought so low of Jonathan, but I pardon that because she had a good argument, and anyway that was pretty different by the end. Over all, a nice book to read. I plan to read even more by this author. If you liked this one, read Starring Me. I cannot stress that enough. It's the story of Kara and Chad, a re-telling of Issac and Rebekah. Oh, and, let me mention that with both this book and Starring Me, I liked them so much I finished them both in two days each. So, read them. Great Christian fiction.

There was such a large Christian emphasis on this because this story is based on Esther, from the Bible. I loved the storyline, but the book kinda sucked. The writing seemed immature and the ending was stupid. I'm not one for super mushy romances, but there didn't even seem to be much of a romance at all going on in this book! It definitely didn't live up to my expectations! If you want to read a good book then I suggest you read anything by Jenny B. Jones.

A very good book. This book is one of the ones that I'd be happy to read over and over again.

A pretty crappy book about a contest to see who gets to go on a date with the president's son. It had WAY too much emphasis on Christianity and since I am from a different faith I really don't appreciate it, and even if I were christian it is still a pretty bad book. The girl is so selfish and the writing is really bad because it makes everything seem childish.

This was one of the best books I have ever read! I couldn't put this book down. A great read with a surprising ending. I definitely would read this book again!

A little bit too much christian emphasis on the entire thing, and its highly unlikely for something like this to happen. but the writing was okay.
