This was not a home run for me by any means. I am a big fan of steampunk and steampunk romances but this just felt a bit cliched and overwrought to me. The steampunk setting wasn't enough to let me overlook the failings of the plot and lackluster romance.
Just meh, really.

Not your usual romance. The hero is quirky and slightly goofy. The heroine is strong and intelligent. The writing is sharp, funny and sexy. This book was a lot of fun!

If you consider yourself either a connoisseur of the romance genre and/or even a slight fan of the steampunk genre, then this book is not for you. The dialogue is stilted and cheesy, and the time period is skewed, with references to "Indiana Jones", an idea that should not have existed during the steampunk/Victorian period. I was initally intrigued by the steampunk slant, being an avid fan of the genre, but I was ultimately disappointed.

Interesting alternate thinking in history and science.

Katie MacAlister takes on Steampunk-and romance gets hotter than ever...

When one of Jack Fletcher's nanoelectromechanical system experiments is jostled in his lab, the resulting explosion sends him into the world of his favorite novel-a seemingly Victorian-era world of steampower, aether guns, corsets, and goggles. A world where the lovely and intrepid Octavia Pye captains her airship straight into his heart...

*Starred Review* Captain Octavia Pye is surprised to find an unconscious, oddly-dressed man and an equally unusually clad woman aboard her airship. There’s evil afoot in her world, and Octavia wonders if these two are pirates or secret agents. After an explosion in his lab, Dr. Jack Fletcher is shocked to wake up beside his sister in a Victorian airship, complete with a no-nonsense captain and crew, all of whom are outfitted in late nineteenth-century fashion. Jack thinks he has gone back in time; instead he’s astounded to learn that it’s the same day as the explosion. Caught in a parallel universe where technology is still at the steam engine stage, Jack finds himself pulled between a longing for home and an increasingly stronger desire for the intrepid Octavia. MacAlister hits it out of the park with this highly entertaining steampunk fantasy. There’s danger, adventure, romance, and lots of humorous moments as Jack and Octavia discover that the laws of love always trump the laws of physics. --Shelley Mosley
