Originally published in 2010, Pim & Francie is a cult classic and theonly collection of Al Columbia's work to be published. Collecting more than adecade's worth of comic strips, animation stills, storybook covers, and muchmore, this broken jigsaw puzzle of a book tells the story of a pair of childlikeimps whose antics get them into horrific, fantastic trouble. Columbia'sbrilliant, fairy-tale-like backdrops hint at dread lurking under everygingerbread house and behind every sunny afternoon, all told with a wicked senseof humor.

A macabre version of early Disney.

Publisher's Weekly says: "This, his first book, makes a point of being unfinished and unfinishable. These aren't actually stories about Pim and Francie, a pair of little-kid characters (drawn in a vintage animation style) who are perpetually stumbling into ghastly, wrenchingly violent scenarios: they're mangled fragments of stories, closeups of incomplete comics pages and animation storyboards, stained and crumpled sketches and notes". -- And that really hits the mark. PS it's great stuff and a pleasure to look at and sort of read.

Incoherent Pointless Tasteless and Extremely Disturbing.
I really can't recommend it.
Best not to touch it for your own saftey.

This comic book is terrible. Perhaps I don't read enough comics to be able to judge, but I saw absolutely nothing redeeming about this book. The drawings are ok, I suppose, but the book looks like a disjointed collection of sketches. There's no story to speak and while you can still have a "narrative" without a standard story, the book doesn't have one either.

An excellent horror comic collection. It is a shame the author is notorious for not finishing things, so, we will likely never see volume 2.
