High school senior Tyler Miller used to be the guy who faded into the background--average student, average looks, average dysfunctional family. But since he got busted for doing graffiti on the school and spent the summer doing outdoor work to pay for it--he stands out like you wouldn't believe. His new physique attracts the attention of queen bee Bethany Milbury, who just happens to be his father's boss's daughter, the sister of his biggest enemy ... and his secret crush. This sets off a string of events that have Tyler questioning his place in the school, in his family, and in the world.

Twisted is young adult novel that is about the life of a high school student named Tyler Miller. There is a use of mature tones and relatable themes and experiences throughout the book. The author writes about serious topics such as suicide and brings awareness about it. There are also problems the protagonist faces that many teenagers also face. The book was mildly interesting, but it was definitely not a book that you would be to read in one sitting. There are parts in the book where it keeps you on your toes but there are parts where it bores you. It was a good read but not a great read. The book is not at the top of my list of favourite books but it is on the list of books to read when there is nothing better to do. 2.5/5 stars

The title is very fitting. What a worthy coming of age tale that explores abuse on the familial level as well as amongst peers. Tyler becomes an unconventional hero.
