Although I appreciate the authors attempt the heroes of this story didn't really seem to be encapsulted in the 1900s. Compared to Pioneer Quest, or Alone in the Wilderness, et al, this was a disappointment. Didn't learn anything and stopped reading before I started scoffing. Too east coast America for me.

This is a quick read, and an interesting summation of a year spent living like it was 1900. I liked the way the author addressed issues we might not even think of, and was honest with the struggles and the achievements. A good read.

Easy, fun read with a clean, magazine-style of writing. Narrator was honest about his feelings, and I wanted to know more about their experience (always a good thing!). Recommended.
