"Taking inspiration from numerous fairytales and weaving them into a wholly original story, INTO THE WOODS is a whirlwind of a novel, full of imaginative happenings and dastardly deeds. torm, Aurora and Anything Eden live in a huge mansion surrounded by great parks, with their erstwhile father and indolent mother. But it is not long before they are dramatically orphaned and left to face Dr D'ath and his fawning cohorts; they become exiled from their own home and must combat his wicked intentions to rule the land and gloat in ill-gained riches. The three courageous and eccentric sisters encounter kidnap, sweet-filled orphanages, mountains of ice, diamond mines and the constant terrifying presence of wolves. Will they survive while saving the township and its inhabitants, or will Dr D'ath defeat them all...? "

This would be a fabulous choice for an adventurous third - sixth grader who appreciates fairy tales! It might be just a little scary for a younger child.

This was a well-written book. I love the writing style and the mashup of fairy tales. Any is quite a bit like Sunny from the Series of Unfortunate Events, so that might have been part of it.
