In New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole's sizzling series, a fierce werewolf and a bewitching vampire become unlikely soul mates whose passion will test the boundaries of life and death.

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. Emmaline Troy is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

Sheltered Emmaline finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents--until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae--and their notorious dark desires--ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

Looooved this book, was a lil put off with Emma;s self attitude (thanks to very over-protective famly) at the start and a bit afraid of what Lachlain was going to do to Emmaline in the begining, but that worked out well. One o the first I read b miss Cole and have not stopped since. worth the read!!!

I didn't like the beginning where Lachlain's feelings for Emma seem so violent. I half expected him to rape her in a couple of scenes. The best part was at the end when Emma finally takes control over her own life and is finally able to stand up to not only her family, but also her long-lost father. I look forward to another of her books that I have ready to go; No Rest for the Wicked.

This book is as good as all others by Kresley Cole. You should read the series from the beginning since characters come and go in all her books. Loved the story of the warewolf and the valkyrie/vampire :-)

I enjoyed the story of timid Emma coming into her own. This story was witty, well written, and totally entertaining. This book just sucks you in, and you will find yourself staying up all night to read it.

This romance novel has it all, werewolves, vampires, valkyries. What's a girl to do when she is kidnapped by a hot and hairy werewolf and her i-pod doesn't work? The story was suspenseful, action-packed and of course full of romance. But it is also hip and quirky. How many romance novels do you know of that have references to South Park? Staff picks 2006

After enduring fifteen decades of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, king of the Lykae Clan, finally scents the predestined mate he has waited millennia for. He does the unthinkable to escape and track her down. But upon doing so, he is enraged to find that she is a vampire, a bloody leech! It hardly matters that Emmaline is half Valkyrie too. Yet she is the one, no question about it.

Emmaline "Emma" Troy never knew her parents. She grew up with a coven of Valkyries at Val Hall Manor, just outside New Orleans. At the young age of seventy, Emma sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae, and their notorious dark desires, ebbs as Lachlain begins a slow, wicked seduction to mark her as his - forever!
