Great musical entertainment!

VERY GOOD 1935 screwball musical comedy film with Fred Astaire at age 36 and Ginger Rodgers at 24. Just learned that Ginger is associated with the phrase 'backwards and in high heels' (the title of her memoir) referencing how lady moves work in partner dancing.
I found the mistaken identity story line a little weak (as was some of the humor like the 'screwball' putting steak on the black eye scene), but the singing/dancing/staging sequences, etc. were excellent. 'It's a Lovely Day (To Be Caught In the Rain)' was particularly good filmed in the outdoor concert area. And the fabulous near end 'The Piccolina' gondola sequence created by the massively expensive combining of two separate sound stages with water, boats and three bridges was one of the best ever.
Not as good as top notch 1948 'Easter Parade' Astaire musical, but they had another decade plus to develop/perfect that particular film style.
Still, 'Top Hat' is well worth a watch; glad I did!
