The white Masai
Massai blanche = Die Weisse Massaii
DVD
- 2007 | German
| Widescreen version.
At once a captivating romance and a breath-taking travelogue into the Kenyan outback, this is the unbelievable - yet true - tale of a white Swiss woman who becomes the wife of a Masai warrior. She uproots her life to move to Africa - not the romantic Africa of popular culture, but the Africa of the Masai, in the middle of the isolated bush, where five-foot-tall huts made from cow dung serve as homes. Undaunted by wild animals, hunger, and bouts with tropical diseases, she tries to forge a life with Lketinga. But slowly the dream starts to crumble when she can no longer ignore the chasm between their two vastly different cultures. The exotic African landscapes provide a backdrop to a tale that is nothing short of extraordinary.

Add a CommentIntoxicated by 'love-at-first-sight' of a handsome Masai warrior, a Swiss woman left everything behind to wed her lover in the jungles of Kenya and be part of the local community. This is one interesting story of inter-racial love, and probably a fairly extreme case. A glimpse into life in the urban and jungle lives in Kenya adds flavour to this film. I enjoyed it. Subtitles.
Simple plot of woman entranced by exotic man. Plot wanders sklowly between bad sex scenes. Has some scenery in Kenya and a basic portrayal of Masai, but not worth the bad side of it.
