r Film noir is about style as much as it is about crime, with poster art that features a bold look and iconography all its own - a sizzling marriage of sex and violence. This is the first book to present this striking artwork in a lavishly produced, large-format volume featuring 275 colour images of posters and other promotional material from the golden age of noir. Featuring such classics as Touch of Evil and The Big Sleep, noir expert Eddie Muller also provides background information on all of the illustrators.

A good book to peruse. Has all the posters from a lost era. Film noir at it's best. Like the Cagney and Hitchcock posters. Also bios of pulp fiction writers.

This is an awesome book. It has lots of posters of film noirs and movies from the 40s. I bought a copy online. It is well worth it if you like classic movies and posters. You can look at your book from time and again and enjoy the art work. The posters are beautiful and cool.

This book is full of beautiful film noir movie posters from the 1940-50's. These artists have amazing talent and I can only wish that I could paint like they could. The posters are bright and colorful, sometimes using surreal colors for everyday things. This book also includes international posters of American film noir. To think that these posters were meant to be thrown away after the movie was no longer playing. Luckily, some were saved and can be seen in this book. Staff picks 2006
