What interesting and complex lives this couple. Born in the late 1800's, married and living in Europe during the 1920's when it seemed as if the days would always remain rose-hued, and then faced with their own mortality and that of their relatives and friends, but through it all maintaining their sense of beauty and compassion and generosity. His art is still absolutely enthralling.

Excellent writing and research, making these complex people so human and humble. They were enablers of so many creative icons, some of whom were not so grateful.
