Six extremely well constructed and humorous stories that will definitely hold the interest of inventive science & technology minded kids. And adults. Homer Price is a young boy having both book-learning intelligence and street-smart common sense, living with his family in small town America. He builds and fixes radios as a hobby. He has a wild skunk as a pet, and relatives equally unusual. One of them, Uncle Ulysses, is obsessed with labor savings mechanical devices. As with any mechanical device, these tend to go askew at times, and is one source of the humor, as in the hilarious donut machine story. A way for young students 8-18 to get a laugh with a little morality and values story attached, and learn some new vocabulary at the same time. For the rest of us, including adults of any age, just a chance to enjoy good story telling. The audio reader does an excellent job. Highly recommended.
