A beautiful, true story of a 1913 Danish woman, her lousy cheating spouse in Africa where she meets her exciting but independent lover Denys and WW-1. The cinematography is outstanding and the story is wonderful from a man's point of view and a woman's point of view. PG

One of the top ten movies ever made. Haunting music from beginning to end, story with twists and turns, never dull, Michael Kitchen should have had a bigger part, Redford is still desirous, no one else could have played 'Karen', heavenly landscapes, top knotch costuming. A movie you will watch again and again.

Wife loved it and has seen it a few times. This was my first time. It was fine, just looked dated as would be expected. I can understand why it was considered to be so good with all the big scenery and the big names in it. I did enjoy seeing Michael Kitchen in his role as a younger guy. He later was the star of all the Foyle's War stories on BBC which is one of my personal favorites.

This is the movie that you can watch many times over and be pleased with quality of everything. Miss a lot this era of movie making.

I'd like to make a vote here for Karen Blixen, a stunningly brilliant writer, who wrote quite a lot in the long short story form.

GREAT 1985 film that deservedly won 6 Oscars. Fabulous cinematography of African geography/scenery and varied animal species, good romantic drama of primary characters, and interesting peek into British colonial occupation of Africa circa 1915-1919.

A sweeping romance that will linger with you. Redford and Streep have such amazing chemistry, it makes me swoon.
