In "The Gunless Gunman," Tom Dallas vows not to use a gun for a year, but when the year is only half over a situation develops that can only result in breaking his vow, or taking flight, which he won't do. Jack Bristol in "The Fighting Coward" is head of a bandit gang. Having just committed a bank robbery he is stopped by young Tom Reardon, who urges him to flee. Tom is jailed and what Jack does next turns his gang against him. The hell in "Gunfighters in Hell" is the barren, flaming desert where Jimmy Harrigan finally catches the outlaw known as Big Joe. Big Joe has stolen everything from Jimmy, but circumstances change after their horses vanish in the desert.
