This book is just "Twilight". It could have been good, but it's "Twilight" right down to the huge adopted family who all have the same eye colour. I'm not even halfway through and I don't want to read anymore, but I have to keep going for the slight chance that it will be a little different from "Twilight" (not going to happen but I have to hope; it's the only book I have to read right now).
Edit: Okay, so it's not totally "Twilight", thank goodness. Getting through all the "Twilight" stuff was worth it for the ending (though, now that I think about it, that was a little "Twilight" too). The bad guy actually has a motivation and there are real stakes and the protagonist isn't a total Mary Sue or a self-sacrificing idiot. Except the more that I think about it the more it seems like "Twilight" again.
"Black Bird of the Gallows" is "Twilight" with a better history and mythology.
