Vince Luca is just like any other high school guy. His best friend, Alex, is trying to score vicariously through him; his brother is a giant pain; and his father keeps bugging him to get motivated. There is just one thing that really sets him apart for other kids—his father happens to be the head of a powerful crime organization. Needless to say, while Vince''s family''s connections can be handy for certain things (like when teachers are afraid to give him a bad grade), they can put a serious crimp in his dating life. How is he supposed to explain to a girl what his father does for a living? But when Vince meets a girl who finally seems to be worth the trouble, her family turns out to be the biggest problem of all. Because her father is an FBI agent—the one who wants to put his father away for good.

Gordon Korman writes good books and this one is no exception. Taking an unusual perspective, the story follows Vince Luca as he tries to make his way honestly on his own merits while being the son of the local mob boss. Light fare but will leave you wondering how he can succeed and still be part of his family.

Very funny and charming book. I definitely am glad my family doesn't run the Mob. But hey, it would be interesting. :)

really funny, I love the sarcastic wit that vince has. quick read, pretty on the surface plot, not really that intricate or deep.

I love Gordan Korman's sense of humour. Where he comes up with the craziest, original plots, I don't know. But I love it. :)

It was interesting to see the life of a family like that, and Vince's opinion in all of it.

"I pop the trunk, reach in, and freeze. I almost choke on my lungs, which have leaped up the back of my throat. There's the blanket all right-wrapped around the unconscious body of some guy! To be honest, my first thought is that he's dead-which isn't such a stretch; I told you about my family business.
