American Troops Patrol Grenada During Operation Urgent Fury Ca. 1983Streaming Video - 1983
In 1983 the United States invaded the West Indian island of Grenada. The purpose of the invasion, dubbed Operation Urgent Fury, was two-fold: stamp out the Cuban-supported communist uprising on the island and protect the 1,000 U.S. citizens living there. Massive numbers of American troops quickly overwhelmed the small, disorganized communist forces, bringing the operation to a close in a mere three days.
